John Peacey is a highly regarded process metallurgist with over 30 years experience in all aspects of non-ferrous smelting and refining, including copper, lead, nickel, zinc, aluminum and magnesium. In his 28 years with one of the world’s leading non-ferrous metal companies, Noranda, he was closely involved in a large number of projects from new process development, techno-economic evaluation, process design basis definition and basic engineering through to plant commissioning, troubleshooting and optimization. He has acquired specialist technical and business expertise in many areas, including zinc refinery operations; copper smelting and converting; minor element control in zinc, copper and lead operations; aluminum potroom and bake furnace operations and magnesium metal production.
He has held several executive-level positions, including: Vice President – Metallurgy; Vice President-Technology and Director Technology and Strategy. In these roles, he was responsible for identifying and developing many technical and commercial opportunities that had multi-million dollar bottom line impact. In addition, he was a key member of the mergers and acquisitions team and has carried out many due-diligence evaluations of non-ferrous companies and operations. He has worked with and/or visited many of the base metal smelters and refineries in the world and has an excellent technical and economic knowledge of most aspects of base metal mining and metallurgical operations.
